NEW YEARS EVE SERVICE

Peace Lutheran Church, Greensburg, will be having a New Year’s Eve Service at 5 p.m. on December 31st.  Everyone is invited to attend!

The offices of Kiowa County will be closed on Monday, December 26th in observance of the Christmas Holiday.  Regular business hours will resume on Tuesday, December 27th.

KIOWA COUNTY EXTENSION OFFICE CLOSED

The Kiowa County Extension Office will be closed December 26th – January 2nd.  They will re-open for business on January 3rd at 9 a.m.

The Kiowa County Council on Aging is holding a special public meeting on Wednesday, December 7 at 1 pm at the Methodist Church in Greensburg (600 W. Lincoln) to seek public input for the landscaping design and outdoor amenities at the new Kiowa County Senior Center. A representative from K-State Research and Extension will be on hand to facilitate. All Kiowa County residents are invited to attend.

Please let us know ahead of time (723-2288) if you’d also like to join us for lunch (lasagna) at noon.

The United Methodist ladies are going to host a Community Christmas Concert featuring the Faith Ringers Bell choir.

Mark your calendar for December 7, 2011 at 7 pm.   Bring a friend or

neighbor and start your Christmas season with some special music.

Summer 2011 Art Classes at the 5.4.7 Arts Center will be held every Monday and Wednesday from 3 to 4:30 p.m. beginning June 13th and ending August 10th.

•     June 20th & 22nd  Mono-printing

Using aluminum foil and paint, we’ll learn the basics of printmaking.

•     June 27th & 29th  Press Molded Clay Pots

Use clay and plaster molds to shape a bowl, plate, tray or other pot.

•     No Classes the week of July 4th

•     July 11th & 13th  Artist Themed Workshop

Piet Mondrian Inspired Watercolors - Using Mondrain’s abstract art as inspiration, we’ll create watercolor paintings using geometric shapes.

•     July 18th & 20th  Coil Built Pots

Using nature and Georgia O’Keeffe’s artwork as our inspiration, we”ll create wonderful works of art.

•     August 1st & 3rd  Junkyard Sculpture

The name says it all!  Using recycled objects we’ll create awesome sculptures.  Bring more items from home to use, anything goes!

•     August 8th & 10th  Still Life Drawing

We will learn the basics of drawing, composition, and shading.

The Air Rifle and BB Gun practice will be on Tuesday, June 14th at the Red Livestock Barn on the Fairgrounds at 6 p.m.  All youth ages 7 – 18 are welcome to participate.

Shotgun practice will be held on Wednesday, June 15th at 6 p.m. at the Kiowa County Gun Club.  Youth ages 9 – 18 are welcome to participate.

A $10 participation fee will be charged for either program to cover ammunition, targets and equipment. A parent or guardian must be

present for the child to shoot.   Guns will be available at either

practice if you do not own one but would like to participate.  If you have any questions or would like more information, please contact the Extension Office at 620-723-2156.
