The City of Greensburg is accepting applications for Chief of Police. Greensburg is a community with about 850 residents in south central Kansas on Highway 54. Under the administrative direction of the City Administrator, the Chief of Police performs a wide range of public safety and administrative duties. This position is responsible for the enforcement of the City Code, State Statutes, and regulations involved in the preservation of law and order, and the protection of life and property. The employee must be able to act without direct supervision and exercise independent judgment in emergencies. This employee is responsible for direction all police activities. This employee consults with the City Administrator in determining plans and policies to be observed in police operations.

Position requirements: Five years law enforcement experience preferred with at least three years experience in administration. High School diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s degree, with specialized curriculum in law enforcement studies preferred. Requires possession of Kansas Law Enforcement Training Certification and a valid Kansas Driver’s License. Must be insurable with the City’s insurance carrier.

Salary range $17.71-$25.91 per hour, based on qualifications. Benefits include KPERS, health insurance, vacation, holidays and sick leave, optional dental, vision, accident, cancer, and life insurance.
